5 Ways to Deal with Cyberbullying
Bullying is not new, but the way it is done has changed. Cyberbullying occurs via electronic means and affects both children and adults. Victims feel hurt, sad or angry and it leads to feelings of depression, anxiety, self-esteem issues and even suicide. Via computers and mobile devices, cyberbullies attack people at home or work; places where we should all feel safe.

For victims, Fahsai recommends 5 ways to deal with Cyberbullying on CI Talks:
Ignore the posts … don’t respond or worse retaliate.
Respond … politely ask the person to stop.
Block & Report … use built-in-tools on social media or contact authorities.
Take legal action … keep all evidence of the bullying: messages, posts, comments, etc.
Talk about it … with friends and family.

What used to be somewhat contained within the schoolyard, bullying has migrated to the internet and affects both children and adults alike. Victims can become depressed and suffer from other mental health issues. They can be drawn to self harm and even suicide.

What is the meaning of cyberbullying? Cyberbullying involves the use of digital technologies and can take place on social media, gaming and messaging platforms, and your mobile phones. It can be intentional; intending to scare, shame, embarrass or anger the victim. But it can also be unintentional; a joke among friends at the expense of another person and their feelings.

How you can help to prevent cyberbullying - “T.H.I.N.K” before you post.

H - Is your post "Helpful"?
I - Is your post "Inspiring"?
N - Is your post "Necessary"?
K - is your post "Kind"?

Don’t be a bully, don’t respond if someone bullies you and don't retaliate. Be nice even if you don’t like someone, be a friend not a bystander and block the bully; how would you feel if someone harassed you? If we think before we post, we can all play a part in making the world a better place.
